What is a Speak Up Guardian?

A Speak Up Guardian (formally known as a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian) for Iris Care Group is an impartial support person who helps workers raise workplace concerns. Our Speak Up Guardian offers confidential advice to ensure that staff feel safe speaking up about issues like patient safety, bullying, or malpractice.

What You Can Speak Up About

You can raise concerns about anything that gets in the way of providing safe, high-quality care or that negatively impacts on your experience. Common issues include:

• Unsafe healthcare practices
• Risks to patient/persons safety
• A toxic or bullying workplace culture
• Fraud, corruption, or financial irregularities
• Endangering health and safety, or a lack of proper staff training
