Wentwood Court is a delightful detached house set in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Newport. The house is suitable for those that may require specialist aids and adaptations to meet mobility difficulties and/or physical disability. The houses location is ideal for individuals with forensic needs, where city living is inappropriate or those that prefer a more peaceful and tranquil environment.
The home offers easy access to the facilities of Newport, as well as the shops, libraries, cafes and leisure centres at nearby Chepstow. The people we support who are eligible for mobility are supported by the staff team to acquire their own vehicles, although the home does have its own transport.
Wentwood Court works very closely with our in-house clinicians and offers a multidisciplinary team including psychology, positive behavioural therapy, SALT, OT and physiotherapy. The people in our care are registered with a local GP and are eligible for district nursing services if required.
The model of care at Wentwood Court is based on the Recovery Model, recognising that each individual should have access to a full life beyond disability diagnosis or label. Additionally we offer Positive Behavioural Support plans and strategies, enabling the people we support to reduce behaviours that challenge which may have restricted the opportunities they were able to access in the past.
Referrals are accepted from medium, low-secure and locked rehabilitation services as well as the community, where placements may have been unsuccessful.
Many of the individuals at Wentwood Court have slow recovery pathways, with some supported right through to palliative care.
