How long have you been a Support Worker?
I’ve been working in social care as a Support Worker for seven years but have been at Cherry Tree for almost two years now.
What’s the best bit about your job?
The best bit is working with the service users, supporting and assisting them and seeing them reaching milestones and making progress.
When you first help a service user they might not be able to do much by themselves, but you support them and watch them grow and help them have a meaningful life
What’s the best bit about working for Ludlow Street Healthcare?
The best bit is they offer good training so you can grow from being a Support Worker- so with help and training you can progress. They have good facilities- and if you need something you know who and where to go to.
What are the service users like?
We’ve got different service users with different needs. Some are nonverbal and some can talk – some are more challenging than others but overtime you learn how to communicate and build relationships with all of them.
What qualities do you think someone needs to work as a Support Worker?
The most important is to be caring and compassionate and you must be able to listen. You see things by putting yourself in their shoes.
