Maddy

Assistant Psychologist

What does your job involve?

I work at Beechwood College and for me every day is different. Three days a week I work directly in the classrooms with students and their education and residential teams. I use this time to observe students, assessing their behaviour, and consulting with my colleagues on how to provide individualised support for each student.

The other two days, I attend MDT meetings and write clinical reports, reviews as well as conduct behavioural analyses.

Throughout the week I also deliver therapy sessions for the students on a 1:1 basis.

Why did you join Ludlow Street Healthcare?

Ludlow Street Healthcare has offered me a great opportunity to develop my applied therapeutic skills. Importantly they have also been very supportive in allowing me to showcase my theoretical knowledge; currently I am working on writing a new therapy manual.

What’s the best part of your job?

Certainly the College students; seeing their progress and development as people. There is no greater joy than seeing them become happier, more engaged individuals. Those are the moments that reaffirm my career choice. But also, on a personal level, being given the opportunity to work within an MDT with such varied expertise. I have been able to absorb and learn so much from so many different people.
